Prince's Islands: A Great Place to Visit

Have you ever thought of visiting a place that looks exactly like a place from fairy tales? Let’s travel through one of the most beautiful places in the world, the place with greenery, the place with peace and the place of beautiful people. Let me tell you the name of that place first, the place is called Prince's Island.

Geographically, Prince's Islands are lying just off the coast in Marmara Sea. Actually nine islands fall under Princess Islands but only four are inhabited, which are Buyukada, Burgazada, Heybeliada and Kinaliada. Buyukada, and Heybeliada garner a bulk of tourists in summer weekends. These pine covered islands carry an intriguing history of change and rest. You’ll have to take one complete day out of your vacation to see these extremely beautiful and quiet islands. You can take a break from the noise of traffic and dust on Prince’s Islands. You can reach all four Islands by taking a ferry ride from Kabatas, Eminonu or Kadikoy ferry dock to any of the four islands. The only means of transportation you can use on the motor free islands is bicycle or carriage ride.

Let’s have a look at these beautiful islands one by one.

Buyukada
Feeling the sound of silence even in presence of many visitors is the beast feature of visiting Buyukada. Buyukada also called Adalar, which is the most beautiful island out of four Princess Islands. You will forget all stress and worries while riding or walking through the untouched pine-forests and narrow streets flanked by fine wooden Victorian cottages. The only feeling left will be the feeling of beauty, the feeling of nature and the feeling of peace. You can stay in Buyukada for a night or two but you have to book the room in small hotels there, well before summer starts.

Heybeliada
The second largest island in archipelago is Heybeliada, which has many copper mines. There is a Navy academy on Heybeliada, found in 1773 but it is closed now. A small church is present in the courtyard of Navy Academy. Heybeliada has two museums. Halki palace is a well-known hotel in Heybeliada. For tourists’ attraction beach has been set and a water sports club is present on the beach.

Burgazada
Burgazada is not much populated. It is popular for a museum which was the house of a Turkish writer earlier. There is a café which offer food with magnificent views of sunset. Aya Yorgi, Aya Yani and Christos Matamorfosis Monastery are the places to visit other that the café and museum. The beach has a water sports club. There are not much places to stay overnight at Burgazada. Burgazada was covered with pine trees till 2013 but an unfortunate fire burnt the woods.

 Kinaliada
The word Kinali means Henna. The smallest of four Princess Islands is called Kinaliada, which comes from its reddish color, which is due to the iron and cooper that has been mined from the land for fast years. Kinaliada has beautiful summer homes which people rent out for their stay during summer. Tourists are attracted toward the island for its beautiful beaches. Ayazma beach is one of the most favorite beaches. This island is quite rocky so there are not much trees. There are no horse carriages available on the island because you can easily roam around and see the small island.

You can take food with you to any of these islands as they have many beautiful parks and picnic spots. Ohhh, and don’t forget to take your swimsuit with you as you may get to have a dip in the sea.
